Lotsa Pitchas

It's a picture medley... enjoy!!

Plumeria Flowers: On campus

Palm Trees: On campus

Bellevue Crazy Girl: Not on campus

So they sell these Halloween costumes at Spencers! Bellevue. BELLEVUE! Connected underground to Brookdale. They nationaly sell these. Ahh, the horror.

Mountain and Baseball Field

I'm not sure on the name of the park, but it is right along King Street near the campus. I love how the houses are all stacked along the mountain. You see that everywhere here.

Waikiki Beach & Palm Tree

One of my favorite pics of Waikiki.

Bird's Nest: On campus

Isn't this cute? Although, I really feel bad for the birds, especially the babies. Can you imagine how loud that must be?? I don't even know what they use these speakers for... but it must make the birds deaf!

Smile!!: On campus

So bright and sunny! That's what I saw when I first took this pic. Then I noticed the American flag. And then I noticed the swaskit behind the smiley face. Weird!

Picture of the Day

Red Leaf

I noticed this one red leaf amongst the many green ones, on this very large tree. How's that for being unique?

Self Portrait

Just kidding. Can you guess by the foreground where this is? Yes, in a bathroom stall, in the Art building. This is why I love Art/the department/the students: you never know what to expect, except that you're bound to see some creative and unique things around you. Like a pencil drawing of a woman with a mustache, in a bathroom stall.

Aloha, my name is... Hawai'i

This picture was taken on campus, and the sticker is on a light pole. Who knew they had other versions of these stickers? First the Entenmann's, now this. Hawai'i, you never seize to amaze me!

Sidewalk Art

So, here I was, just walking along Dole Street, heading back to the apartment. I've always noticed that there was writing in the pavement, outside of Johnson Hall, but I never really took the time to read what it said.

WELL, am I glad I did! I found out some very interesting things, and all I can say is that: Mom and Dad, I am very surprised by the two of you. VERY surprised!

And just who is Steph, dad??

Seriously mom, of all the people out there, you chose to be "friendly" with Gary?! Gary of Swim Tech? Gerard, I think that's why we both were hired to work for him...

Art it is :)

Picture of the Day

One of the many walkways that lead to the classrooms on campus. UHM does this is order to preserve the nature of Hawai'i.

Hehe, just kidding. This is on campus though, except that this is within the Art building, and this little pathway connects two main walkways. (They have two to three little mini jungles like this near the Art building, I guess to visually enhance the area. In the distant background, you can see the regular concrete walkway.)

Picture of the Day

Two older men are playing a game while enjoying the view at Waikiki Beach.

La Foto del Giorno

For all you bird lovers out there, this one's for you.

Two birds talking, conversing, flirting, playing hard to get - you decide, and comment your decision - on campus near the Hale Aloha Cafeteria, which is near the apartments. They're so cute!

A mother and her kids stroll along the sidewalk at Waikiki Beach. It's so unique to see grass growing with the palm trees, right next to the sandy beach. Beautiful landscaping!

Picture of the Day

A local crosswalk, with the crosswalk button. Pretty common in any big city. Except, if you notice in the background, they actually have directions on how to interpret it all. Only in Hawai'i.

Picture of the Day

I thought I would try a new thing, where I try and upload a new Hawai'i picture on here everday, for your viewing enojoyment! I could post 30 pictures all at once, but it always seems like picture overload when you have to look at that many all together... and it's more fun this way :)

On that note, here is today's picture, plus one for good luck:

One of the several bus stops along Dole Street, which is the main steet you walk on to get to the main part of campus. I like how it says "Aloha" on the bench.

I was actually suppose to work on campus, in that building you see in the background, doing office work, except, well... that didn't really work out.

A marked-off cone on campus, I don't know why. So random! Just when I thought I escaped the cone madness in NY, they follow me here. Espanita, look what you've done!!

1st UH Football Game

Saturday, September 1st, 2007 marked the start of the UH, Division 1, Warrior football season! UH beat Northern Colorado. I don't know how scoring works in football, except that if a team kicks the ball through the U, they get an extra point, so I can't even tell you the score. But, I do know that UH won by a lot!!

Between seeing the tailgating cookouts and the debauchery that followed, I knew from the start that this would be a fun game! The band was, for lack of a better word, AWESOME! So much school spirit, which is quite different from the Hunter games I've been to. The fans, the team, the band, the guy running around the stadium track with the UH flag... the whole package couldn't have been better!

The start of the game

A running ref and the "push-up team?"
They ran down and did push-ups whenever UH scored
They did a lot of push-ups!

A fellow photographer
Someday I'll be doing that too :)

Gooooooooal!
Touch dowwwwn!

Friday Fun at North Shore

What's better on a Friday than getting out of class at 11:30 am, driving over to North Shore for some Shark's Cove snorkeling & Shave Ice & a sunset? Welcome to Hawai'i!

Driving over to North Shore
(Hair protection for convertable driving)

One of the many beautiful views while driving

Matsumoto Shave Ice, which is known to have the best Shave Ice on the island

A line of people waiting to order their Shave Ice!

Near North Shore

Surf Lessons!

Watching the sun set on the North Shore.
Too bad it was cloudy!

Another view of the sunset.
This is also Shark's Cove, where we went snorkeling!

Another pic of North Shore

And another view of Shark's Cove.
So pretty!

Hmmm... where have I seen this picture before? :)

Around Campus

The campus at UHM is pretty big compared to Hunter. Well, I guess Hunter doesn't really have a campus though, does it? Being at UHM, it's pretty cool to actually have a whole university put together.
